We are proud to introduce you to the Humane Animal Treatment Society's new Executive Director, Angela Miedema.
Angela is a 2013 graduate of Central Michigan University and has worked in animal welfare for over 10 years. She brings a wealth of knowledge from her experience as an Animal Control Officer in Kent County and an Operations Director at Al-Van Humane Society.
Since joining us in November of 2019, the shelter staff has been working to improve the adoption process and policies. Angela adds, "We’re focusing on making the best matches possible for our animals and potential adoptive homes. We’re taking an adoption counseling approach where we get to know individuals and what they’re looking for in a pet, as well as what would be best for that animal, as opposed to a black and white adoption policy.”
The HATS team has many goals set for 2020, including a vision to elevate our standard of animal care in the community. Angela hopes to achieve this by working to make the shelter a resource for the community by providing educational programs, access to low cost spay/neuter, and events which will allow the community to interact with the shelter.
We are very excited about the direction our organization is headed! If you have any questions for Angela or would like to discuss new partnerships, she can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
