"Achieving and maintaining no-kill status at our animal shelter since 2020 is a testament to our unwavering commitment to animal welfare. As the only municipal shelter serving Isabella County, we recognize the unique challenges this presents, but our dedication remains steadfast. We rely heavily on our donors, community partners, fosters, and volunteers to make no-kill a reality for our county. In the last six months, we have doubled our capacity to care for animals by expanding and improving our foster and foster-to-adopt programs. This work is truly life-saving—fosters help us reduce fear, stress, and anxiety in animals that are declining or not doing well in the shelter environment, or at increased risk of failure to thrive due to age or medical issues. We cannot thank enough our fosters, volunteers, and donors for their incredible support. We are also grateful for our partnerships with organizations like the Bissel Pet Foundation, Best Friends Animal Society, Petco Love, Hill's Science Diet, and many others, as well as local supporters such as Mt. Pleasant Rotary Club, United Way, CMU PAWS group, Mt. Pleasant Community Foundation, and numerous local clubs and businesses. Together, we are committed to not only maintaining our no-kill status but also helping surrounding municipal shelters in Isabella County achieve it, ensuring a compassionate future for all animals in our community." --Executive Director Sera Henry
