Celebrating another no-kill year!

Thanks to our amazing community of support, 2021 was another great year for pets in Mid-Michigan!

We saw an increase in intakes, comparable to pre-COVID numbers, and adoptions stayed steady throughout the year! We worked with transfer partners to send 50 animals to shelters with extra space available, and we transferred in 15 dogs from shelters that were at capacity. Thanks to our wonderful Facebook followers who share our lost pet posts, we were able to reunite 176 animals with their families!

Here's a few highlights from 2021:

  • Our canine department celebrated their best lifesaving year ever, with a 99% canine save rate!

  • We maintained no-kill status with a 96% overall save rate!

  • Our feline department decreased the average length of stay by 50% since implementing managed admission for felines in 2019. That means cats are moving through the shelter and into forever homes at a much better pace!

  • The Health Clinic spayed/neutered 2,021 animals – our surgery goal this year is 2,022! We are still working hard to combat feline overpopulation and 1,601 felines were fixed last year!

  • Over 300 pets received free vaccines and microchips at our walk-in clinics!

Thank you for making this possible! Because of you, hundreds of animals received the safe shelter, medical care, and second chances they deserved.

We have some wonderful plans in the works for this year, including a major improvement for our canine residents! Stay tuned!

Together, we can make 2022 our best year yet!

It shows how structured care and outreach can truly change outcomes. Success like this reminds me of how math playground proves steady engagement leads to better results over time.

These numbers really show the impact of strong community support and smart partnerships—reuniting so many pets with their families is amazing to see. That kind of teamwork and positive momentum feels a lot like the Sprunki, where collaboration and consistent effort lead to meaningful, feel-good outcomes over time.
